Practical Seminar on Financial Sanctions for Advanced Participants
The online seminar “Practical Seminar on Financial Sanctions for Advanced Participants” by TURN Advisory on 9 December 2026 provides a structured and practice-oriented overview of current EU and US sanctions requirements for banks and insurance companies. The focus is on effective sanctions programmes, sanctions screening, current regulatory developments and practical recommendations for implementation.
Financial sanctions continue to evolve rapidly and present financial institutions with increasingly complex regulatory and operational challenges. The seminar provides participants with a structured overview of the key EU and US sanctions regimes and demonstrates how regulatory requirements can be implemented effectively in sanctions screening and monitoring. Particular attention is paid to necessary adjustments in governance and risk analysis resulting from the EU Regulation and the AMLA.
We are pleased to announce the online seminar taking place on Wednesday, 9 December 2026, from 10:00 to 16:00. The programme begins with the key components of sanctions programmes at financial institutions, including practical compliance requirements, policies, risk analysis, internal control plans and relevant best practices.
A major focus is placed on EU sanctions, including prohibitions on disposal, provision and trade, goods-related restrictions, sanctions circumvention and trade finance. Articles 5 and 5r are also addressed, together with practical typologies and methods for identifying sanctions circumvention.
The seminar also covers US sanctions, including relevant Executive Orders, blocked payments, US Nexus and US Origin, as well as the risks associated with secondary sanctions. In addition, participants will gain practical insights into sanctions screening, including counterparty and transaction screening, list management, data quality, interfaces with AML and KYC, the Instant Payment Regulation, vessel tracking and EBA Guidelines.
Further topics include key regulatory changes introduced by the EU AML Regulation and AMLA and their impact on governance and risk analysis. The seminar also provides an outlook on current EU sanctions packages, the amendment to Section 18 of the German Foreign Trade Act (AWG) and short-term recommendations for action. The use of Artificial Intelligence in sanctions-related processes and the question of where it can provide genuine added value are also addressed.
The speakers are Florian Grosselfinger, Attorney-at-Law and In-house Counsel, Head of Anti-Financial Crime at Allianz SE and Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer, and Naidira Alemova, Managing Partner at TURN Advisory.
